The ross k. macneill foundation
The Ross K. MacNeill Foundation is dedicated to ending pediatric brain cancer in the memory of 11-year-old Ross K. MacNeill. Ross was a devoted hockey player (#33) and Chicago Blackhawks fan that lived his life with joy, strength, courage and selflessness.
Elmhurst quarry flood control
The Elmhurst Quarry Flood Control facility is an 8,300 acre-foot flood control facility, which began construction in 1993 and was fully operational in 1996. The facility has storage of up to 2.7 billion gallons of water, utilizing a predetermined operating plan that diverts floodwater via a tunnel underneath Illinois Route 83. The Elmhurst Quarry is the largest of four mechanically-operated flood control facilities in DuPage County. Quarry tours are co-sponsored by Dupage County Stormwater Management, Elmhurst Historical Museum and Elmhurst park District.

Bolingbrook
Whalon Lake
Elmhurst-Chicago Stone is dedicated to a policy of reclamation and rehabilitation wherever possible, in an effort to restoring the pleasing scenic character of our sites. One such site that was mined became Whalon Lake in Bolingbrook, IL. Whalon Lake is a 249-acre preserve, which is part of the DuPage River Preservation system and home to many outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking and fishing.
Observation Deck for Elmhurst Quarry
DuPage County and Elmhurst-Chicago Stone partner up to add a safe observation deck for visitors to view the Elmhurst Quarry from Highland avenue.
Salt Creek Park
Salt Creek Park is Elmhurst Park Districts second oldest park, first dedicated as a park in 1928. When Route 83 expanded in 1991, the Elmhurst-Chicago Stone company donated land to the park, bringing it to a full 10 acres.
Current activities include; a baseball diamond, horseshoe pits, playground equipment and picnic areas.
IRTBA Sustainability Council Member
The IRTBA Sustainability Council was established in 2008 to develop an environmental conscience while designing and building sustainable infrastructure. The objectives for the Council are: 1) to build public awareness and education; 2) to research technical and regulatory aspects of projects; 3) to research and define a sustainability metric as it applies to design and construction in the transportation industry; 4) to form partnerships with a variety of both public and private agencies. Elmhurst-Chicago Stone is a proud member of the Illinois road and Transportation Builders Sustainability Council.
Trail connecting will and dupage counties
Forest Preserve District of Will County Chief Operating Officer Ralph Schultz said the project grew from a 25-year partnership between Will County and the Elmhurst-Chicago Stone Company, located adjacent to Whalon Lake.
